Today's post and podcast episode include our new segment I'm calling Riverbend Living Spotlight! This spotlight will highlight on the blog and in the podcast episode a small business, attraction or local product to the Alton, Illinois/St. Louis, Missouri area. We recently moved to Alton, and want to share the fabulous local flavor, finds, and people we are encountering as we explore the areas. 

I also share a top 10 holiday light/electrical safety tips I learned about many house fires recently attributed to decorations. Unfortunately, this is a typical statistic this time of year. These are indeed the common sense of course, but a good refresher and food for thought when decorating your home.

Today's segment is highlighting the Pere Marquette State Park and Lodge near Grafton, Illinois. Above are a couple of snapshots that I recently took at the "Holiday Festival" held annually at the lodge. We enjoyed Santa, the wonderful craft and artisan vendors, along with the hot cocoa bar and lunch at the restaurant.
